Scouts camping and etc...

Took the 11 year old scouts camping Friday night to Saturday night and still in the recovery process. All in all it was a fun time, I guess. I wish I was a scout again and come unprepared and not listen to the leader at ALL! The saving grace was that the fathers had to come and they did do a good job watching their own child. I am very grateful they do not need another camp out, we did get all those requirements fulfilled. My body is very stiff and awkward because I do not have a sleeping pad to protect my back. The ground FYI is very hard and sleeping on it can be most difficult. Sleeping in my own bed last night was amazingly comfortable. Interestingly how funny it is that when we don't have something that we use everyday is how much we can miss it. So, before I go camping next time my requirement is to have a decent sleeping pad so that I will be able to sleep.

Now a totally different subject.....

My awesome neighbors today moved. You either hate or love your neighbors, well we loved our neighbor across the street. Jim and Sherie are great friends to All of us, kinda like grandparents actually. We have both made commitments to still hang out and have fun. In two weeks Jim and I are going to South Fork on the Snake River to do some fishin', and hopefully some sturgeon fishin' the end of October.

It was just fun to hang out and talk politics, religion, life, and whatever was happening in our lives. They are from back East just like I am and so we talk about how weird Utahns are, but we both still love it here. Ya know I just realized that my closest friends here didn't grow up here. My best friend since 11 years old live in the avenues, the Harris's are from Virginia and our now former neighbor's are from Pennsylvania. Also half of my friends don't belong to the dominent religion here, that's a good thing, weird but religion isn't something that gets in the way of friendship. Afterall people are entitled to their opinions, that's what make life fun and exciting.

A Little Political

Going a bit political here but I can't seem to help it. Todays announcement for McCain's VP was amazing! His choosing the Alaska governer of Sarah Palin is perfect. I have to admit I have not been very impressed with McCain and not impressed at all with Hussien Obama. Yet I was considering voting for the Holy Obama to give the republicans a better chance for 2012. Slapped myself to reality during Palin's acceptance speech, which was sincere, and reflects more closely the ideals that I personnaly have. My support now goes fully to the McCain/Palin ticket. The cliche that has been spread lately is, "we will be voting for the vice president" and this is definitely the case. I was bummed that Romney didn't get as far as I would have liked, and he almost made the VP ticket. Yet I believe this is an even better choice. As I watched the speech after being self slapped I felt that this is a woman who came from the ground up. She worked hard to achieve what she has and she knows even better than others that "hometown" life that we all can relate too.

Anyways going camping with the scouts tonight, I hope to survive.

1st Day of school

Today was Emily's first day of school and she survived, YAY! She had a blast, love's her new teacher, made a new friend and experienced school lunch. She is in 1st grade, oh my life is going to fast, kids growing up way too fast. I am a proud papa, she is a very smart, social, and loving young girl. *sigh* My wish is that I hope I can be a decent father to her, and teach her the things she needs to know.

Went fishin'

Woke up Saturday morning to take Jake fishing, woke Julie to say bye and she said she wanted to go as well. Way cool, so we all got packed up headed out to the mountains. Picked up Julie's dad Paul on the way, we had a decent start leaving at 830 am. The destination was Smith and Morehouse reservoir, a smaller place to fish but the scenery was amazing. We saw several Mule deer which Jake encouraged me to run over. We had a great time, caught a few rainbow trout, was hoping for a tiger trout, only an excuse to go there again.

5-Mile hike

As the 11 year old scout leader we went on a hike last Saturday to Red Pine lake up Little Cottonwood Canyon. After a few days of recovery for me I can say that we had a great time. The scenery was great, company fun, and miraculous healing. Levi, Harrison, and Steven with Levi's dad Brian and Harrison's dad Robert joined us for the fun. Since I am so out of shape I thought I would be the one to slow us down. I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. Enough said I will let the pics tell the rest of the story!

On the way home

Go speed Racer

Ahhh Bliss!

A perfect spot for lunch

Don't fall in

Lil' something to add to the scenery

Bugs ate us more than we ate lunch

1st post of attempting to make a Blog

Hey guys Julie and I thought we would make a blog since we have been inspired by seeing so many of our friends blogs. So we are going to give this a try and see what happens. Hopefully we can be better at doing this than writing in our Journals.
