On Thursday I went to Huntington Reservoir with the goal of catching a tiger trout, I have yet to catch one. Got up at 4am and went to a friends house by 5am to meet up. On the road to pick up another friend, then we where on our way, which turned out to be a 2 hour drive. Got there as the sun rose above the surrounding mountains. On the water by 8am on friends boat and started looking for the fishes using the fish finder. Well NOTHING was showing up on the fish finder, which was weird. So we decided to slow troll to see if that would work since we couldn't find the schools to start jigging to. Well trolling turned out to be for the best, after 15 minutes fish on yahoo! my first tiger trout 14 inch. The hardest fighting trout and was a blast to catch. I ended up catching 5 or 6, ranging from 13-15 inches, trolling using a Lucky Craft Pointer lure, my most expensive lure but glad I had it. I caught one that had an orange belly, the colors where way cool. This was an awesome day, perfect weather, clean air, great company, and we where catching fish. As we where about to land the boat a fish "boil" happen to occur near the ramp. A boil is when a group of schooling fish are feeding aggressively causing the water to turn looking like the water is boiling. We then decided to fish some more, well I got a night crawler on and stated catching 8-10 inch tiger trout left and right. They where small frisky fish, but fun. I was glad to make one last fishing trip before the lakes start freezing the next few weeks.
